حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ أَبِي مَعْقِلٍ
أَنَّ أُمَّهُ زَيْنَبَ أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا مَعْقِلٍ كَانَ وَعَدَنِي أَنْ لَا يَحُجَّ إِلَّا وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَحَجَّ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَلَمْ أُطِقْ فَسَأَلْتُهُ جِدَادَ نَخْلِهِ فَقَالَ هُوَ قُوتُ عِيَالِي وَسَأَلْتُهُ بِكْرًا عِنْدَهُ فَقَالَ هُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ لَسْتُ أُعْطِيكِهِ فَقَالَ «أَبَا مَعْقِلٍ مَا تَقُولُ أُمُّ مَعْقِلٍ؟» فَقَالَ صَدَقَتْ قَالَ «أَعْطِهَا بِكْرَكَ فَإِنَّ الْحَجَّ سَبِيلُ اللهِ» فَأَعْطَاهَا بِكْرَهُ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ سَقِمْتُ وَكَبُرْتُ وَأَخَافُ أَنْ لَا أُدْرِكَ الْحَجَّ حَتَّى أَمُوتَ فَهَلْ شَيْءٌ يُجْزِئُ عَنِ الْحَجِّ؟ فَقَالَ «نَعَمْ عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً» فَاعْتَمَرَتْ فِي رَمَضَانَ

✧ That his mother Zaynab came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, Abu Ma'qil had promised me that he would not perform Hajj unless I was with him. He performed Hajj on his riding camel, but I was not able. I asked him for the harvest of his date palms, and he said: It is the sustenance of my family. I asked him for a young camel he had, and he said: It is in the way of Allah, I will not give it to you. He said: 'Abu Ma'qil, what does Umm Ma'qil say?' He said: She is truthful. He said: 'Give her your young camel, for Hajj is the way of Allah.' So he gave her his young camel. She said: I am a woman who has become ill and old, and I fear I will not live to perform Hajj until I die. Is there anything that suffices for Hajj? He said: 'Yes, an Umrah in Ramadan equals a Hajj.' So she performed Umrah in Ramadan.
