حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَسَدِيُّ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ أَبِي نَافِعٍ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ
وَضَّأْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَقَالَ لِي «هَلْ لَكَ فِي فَاطِمَةَ» ؟ يَعْنِي ابْنَتَهَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَقَامَ مُتَوَكِّئًا عَلَيَّ فَقَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّهُ سَيَحْمِلُ الثِّقْلَ غَيْرُكَ وَيَكُونُ الْأَجْرُ لَكَ» فَكَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيَّ شَيْءٌ حَتَّى دَخَلْنَا عَلَى فَاطِمَةَ فَقَالَ لَهَا «كَيْفَ تَجِدِينَكَ؟» فَقَالَتْ وَاللهِ لَقَدِ اشْتَدَّ حُزْنِي وَاشْتَدَّتْ فَاقَتِي وَطَالَ سُقْمِي فَقَالَ «أَمَا تَرْضَيْنَ أَنْ زَوَّجْتُكِ أَقْدَمَ أُمَّتِي سِلْمًا وَأَكْثَرَهُمْ عِلْمًا وَأَحْلَمَهُمْ حِلْمًا» ؟

✧ I performed ablution for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day, and he said to me, "Would you like Fatimah?" meaning his daughter. I said, "Yes." He stood, leaning on me, and said, "Indeed, another will bear the burden, while the reward will be yours." It was as if there was nothing upon me until we entered upon Fatimah. He said to her, "How do you find yourself?" She said, "By Allah, my grief has intensified, my need has intensified, and my illness has prolonged." He said, "Are you not pleased that I have married you to the one who was earliest in Islam of my Ummah, the most knowledgeable of them, and the most forbearing of them?"
