حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ هُودٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنَا الْمُسْتَلِمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا ذَكَرَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ أَصَابَ امْرَأَةً ذَاتَ جَمَالٍ وَمَنْصِبٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّهَا لَا تَلِدُ فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا ثُمَّ عَادَ فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا وَقَالَ «تَزَوَّجُوا الْوَلُودَ الْوَدُودَ فَإِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ بِكُمْ»

✧ A man mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ that he had found a woman of beauty and noble lineage, except that she was barren. He forbade him from marrying her, then he returned and he again forbade him, and said: “Marry the loving and fertile, for I will boast of your numbers.”
