حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عِقَالٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبِي قَالَا ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جُحَادَةَ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَجَّاجُ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ثنا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ حُجَيْرٍ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي حَلَفْتُ عَدَدَ هَؤُلَاءِ وَأَوْمَأَ إِلَى أَصَابِعِهِ أَنِّي لَا أَتَّبِعُكَ وَلَا أَتَّبِعُ مَا جِئْتَ بِهِ فَأَنْشُدُكَ اللهَ مَا دِينُكَ الَّذِي بَعَثَكَ اللهُ بِهِ؟ قَالَ «بَعَثَنِي بِالْإِسْلَامِ» قُلْتُ فَمَا الْإِسْلَامُ؟ قَالَ أَنْ تَقُولَ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي لِلَّهِ وَوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ وَتُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةَ وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ أَخَوَانِ نَصِيرَانِ لَا يَقْبَلُ اللهُ مِنْ أَحَدٍ تَوْبَةً أَشْرَكَ بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِ

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'I have sworn by the number of these'—and he pointed to his fingers—'that I will not follow you nor follow what you have brought. I adjure you by Allah: what is the religion with which Allah sent you?' He said, 'He sent me with Islam.' I said, 'What is Islam?' He said, 'That you say: I have submitted myself to Allah and turned my face to You, and that you establish the prayer and give the zakah. Two brothers, supportive helpers; Allah does not accept repentance from anyone who associates partners after his Islam.'
