حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا جَرِيرٌ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ شَيْخًا يُحَدِّثُ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ بِنْتِ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَكَانَ يُمَرِّضُ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ قَالَ

دَخَلَ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَلَى عَمَّارٍ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ قَالَ اللهُمَّ لَا تَجْعَلْ مَنِيَّتَهُ بِأَيْدِينَا فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «تُقْتَلُ عَمَّارًا الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ»

✧ Mu'awiyah entered upon 'Ammar, and when he left his presence he said: 'O Allah, do not make his death at our hands, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The transgressing faction will kill 'Ammar."'
