حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِرْقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَّاطَرِيُّ ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ثنا الْقَاسِمُ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُومُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ بِيَوْمٍ وَيَقُولُ «إِنَّ الصِّيَامَ يَوْمُ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَنَحْنُ مُتَقَدِّمُونَ فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ فَلْيَتَقَدَّمْ وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَتْرُكَ فَلْيَتْرُكْ»

✧ He heard Muawiyah say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand on the pulpit one day before Ramadan and say: "Fasting is on such and such a day, and we are going to fast in advance. Whoever wishes to fast in advance may do so, and whoever wishes to leave it may do so."
