حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيُّ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَعِنْدَهُ رَهْطٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ لِبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ؟ قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ

✧ I heard Mu‘āwiyah, while a group of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ was with him, say, “I adjure you by Allah, do you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade wearing silk?” They said, “O Allah, yes.”
