حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْأَصَمِّ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ بِيَدِهِ قُصَّةٌ مِنْ قُصَصِ النِّسَاءِ يَقُولُ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا وَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا هَلَكَتْ بَنِو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَ نِسَاؤُهُمْ هَذَا»

✧ I heard Mu'awiya b. Abi Sufyan in Madinah, with a lock of women's hair in his hand, saying: The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade the like of this and said, “The Children of Israel were destroyed only when their women adopted this.”
