حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَنَا مَالِكٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ثنا مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَامَ حَجَّ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَتَنَاوَلَ قُصَّةً مِنْ شَعْرٍ كَانَتْ فِي يَدِ حَرَسِيٍّ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ؟ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ وَيَقُولُ «إِنَّمَا» هَلَكَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَ هَذِهِ نِسَاؤُهُمْ «» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ الْقَعْنَبِيِّ

✧ Al-Qaʿnabī narrated to us from Mālik, and Bakr b. Sahl narrated to us: ʿAbdullāh b. Yūsuf narrated to us: Mālik informed us; ḥ, and Abū Yazīd al-Qarāṭīsī narrated to us: ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Ḥakam narrated to us: Mālik narrated to us, from Ibn Shihāb, from Ḥumayd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, that he heard Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān in the year of his ḥajj while he was on the pulpit, and he took a lock of hair that was in the hand of a guard, saying: "O people of Madinah, where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding the like of this and saying: 'The Children of Israel were destroyed only when their women adopted this.'" The wording is that of the ḥadīth of al-Qaʿnabī.
