✧ From Jundub b. Abdullah al-Azdi, the companion of the Prophet ﷺ, he said: I set out with him to Basra until we came to a place called Bayt al-Miskin, which is to Basra like al-Thawiyya is to Kufa. He said: Have you been studying the Quran with anyone? I said: Yes. He said: When we reach Basra, bring them to me. So I brought him Salih b. Musarrih, Abu Bilal, Najda, and Nafi' b. al-Azraq, and they were in my estimation that day among the most virtuous of the people of Basra. He began to narrate to me from the Messenger of God ﷺ. Jundub said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'The example of the scholar who teaches people good and forgets himself is like the example of a lamp that gives light to people and burns itself.'
