حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَأَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الضَّبِّيُّ قَالُوا ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَا قَشِفُ الْهَيْئَةِ فَقَالَ «هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ مَالٍ؟» فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ «مِنْ أَيِّ الْمَالِ؟» فَقُلْتُ مِنْ كُلٍّ قَدْ آتَانِي اللهُ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ وَالْخَيْلِ وَالرَّقِيقِ وَالْغَنَمِ قَالَ «إِذَا آتَاكَ اللهُ ﷻ مَالًا فَلْيُرَ عَلَيْكَ»

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looking shabby in appearance. He said, 'Do you have any wealth?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'From what kind of wealth?' I said, 'From everything; Allah has given me camels, horses, slaves, and sheep.' He said, 'When Allah ﷻ gives you wealth, let it be seen upon you.'
