حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ
أَنَّ أَبَا أُسَيْدٍ صَاحِبَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «خَيْرُ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ دُورُ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ثُمَّ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ثُمَّ دَارُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ ثُمَّ دَارُ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ وَفِي كُلِّ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ خَيْرٌ» قَالَ أَبُو أُسَيْدٍ لَوْ كُنْتُ كَاذِبًا لَبَدَأْتُ بِقَوْمِي بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ فَوَجَدَ فِي نَفْسِهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ خُلِقْنَا فَكُنَّا أَهَمَّ الْأَرْبَعَةِ أَسْرِجُوا لِي حِمَارِي آتِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ أَخِيهِ سَهْلٌ أَتَذْهَبُ تَرُدُّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَوْلَهُ وَاللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ؟ فَأَمَرَ بِحِمَارِهِ فَحُلَّ عَنْهُ

✧ Abu Usayd, the Companion of the Prophet ﷺ, informed him, saying: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "The best dwellings of the Ansar are the dwellings of Banu al-Najjar, then Banu ʿAbd al-Ashhal, then the dwelling of al-Harith b. al-Khazraj, then the dwelling of Banu Saʿidah, and in all the dwellings of the Ansar there is good." Abu Usayd said: If I were a liar, I would have started with my own people, Banu Saʿidah. That reached Saʿd b. ʿUbadah, and he felt distressed about it. He said: We were created and we became the least important of the four. Saddle my donkey for me so I can go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. His nephew Sahl said to him: Will you go to reject the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Allah and His Messenger know best. So he ordered his donkey to be unsaddled.
