حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ الْجُمَحِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا قَدِمَتْ بِي أُمِّي مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ حِينَ مَاتَ حَاطِبٌ فَجَاءَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَقَدْ أَصَابَتْ إِحْدَى يَدَيَّ حَرِيقٌ مِنْ نَارٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاطِبٍ وَقَدْ أَصَابَهُ هَذَا الْحَرْقُ مِنَ النَّارِ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاطِبٍ فَلَا أَكْذِبُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَا أَدْرِي أَنَفَثَ أَوْ مَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِي وَدَعَا فِيَّ بِالْبَرَكَةِ وَفِي ذُرِّيَّتِي

Translation

✧ When my mother brought me from the land of Abyssinia after Ḥāṭib died, she came to the Prophet ﷺ, and one of my hands had suffered a burn from fire. She said, “O Messenger of God, this is Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib, and he has been afflicted with this burn from fire.” Muḥammad b. Ḥāṭib said, “I would not tell a lie about the Messenger of God ﷺ; I do not know whether he blew or wiped over my head and prayed for blessing for me and my descendants.”
