حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ ابْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْخَامَةِ مِنَ الزَّرْعِ تُفَيِّئُهَا الرِّيَاحُ تَصْرَعُهَا مَرَّةً وَتَعْدِلُهَا مَرَّةً حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ أَجَلُهُ وَمَثَلُ الْكَافِرِ كَالْأَرْزَةِ الْمُجْذِبَةِ عَلَى أَصْلِهَا لَا تُفَيِّئُهَا حَتَّى يَكُونَ انْجِفَافُهَا مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'The example of the believer is like a stalk of grain that the winds bend: at one time they knock it down, and at another they straighten it, until his appointed time comes. The example of the disbeliever is like a firmly rooted cedar tree standing on its trunk, which the winds do not bend until it is uprooted all at once.'
