حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِرْقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ وَعَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَا ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصَفًّى ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ السَّفَرِ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي نَزَلَتُ فِي مَحِلَّةِ بَنِي فُلَانٍ وَإِنَّ أَشَدَّهُمْ لِي أَذًى أَقْدَمُهُمْ لِي جِوَارًا فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعَلِيًّا يَأْتُونَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَيَقُومُونَ عَلَى بَابِهِ فَيَصِيحُونَ أَلَا إِنَّ أَرْبَعِينَ دَارًا جَارٌ وَلَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مَنْ خَافَ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have settled in the neighborhood of Banu So-and-so, and the one who harms me most is the one whose house is closest to mine." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Abu Bakr, Umar, and Ali to go to the mosque, stand at its door, and call out: "Verily, forty houses constitute a neighbor. And he whose neighbor fears his harmful acts will not enter Paradise."
