حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ الْبَالِسِيُّ ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً يَهُودِيَّةً أَهْدَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ شَاةً مَصْلِيَّةً بِخَيْبَرَ فَقَالَ لَهَا «مَا هَذِهِ؟» قَالَتْ هَدِيَّةٌ وَحَذِرَتْ أَنْ تَقُولَ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ فَأَكَلَ وَأَكَلَ أَصْحَابُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ «أَمْسِكُوا» ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلْمَرْأَةِ «هَلْ سَمَمْتِ هَذِهِ الشَّاةَ؟» قَالَتْ مَنْ أَخْبَرَكَ؟ قَالَ «هَذَاِ الْعَظْمُ» لِسَاقِهَا أَوْ هُوَ فِي يَدَهِ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ «لِمَ؟» قَالَتْ قُلْتُ إِنْ كُنْتَ كَاذِبًا أَنْ يَسْتَرِيحَ النَّاسُ مِنْكَ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ نَبِيًّا لَمْ يَضُرَّكَ فَاحْتَجَمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى الْكَاهِلِ وَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَاحْتَجِمُوا فَمَاتَ بَعْضُهُمْ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ «وَأَسْلَمَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ فَذَكَرُوا أَنَّهُ قَتَلَهَا»

✧ A Jewish woman sent a roasted sheep to the Messenger of God ﷺ at Khaybar. He said to her, "What is this?" She said, "A gift," and she was cautious not to say it was charity. He ate and his companions ate. Then he said to them, "Stop." Then he said to the woman, "Did you poison this sheep?" She said, "Who told you?" He said, "This bone," meaning its leg bone, and it was in his hand. She said, "Yes." He said, "Why?" She said, "I thought that if you were a liar, the people would be relieved of you, and if you were a prophet, it would not harm you." The Prophet ﷺ had himself cupped on the withers, and he ordered his companions to have themselves cupped. Some of them died. Al-Zuhrī said, "The woman accepted Islam, and they mentioned that he had her killed."
