حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عِقَالٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الْحِمْصِيِّ عَنْ شَعْوِذٍ الْأَزْدِيِّ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنِ الْعِرْبَاضِ بْنِ سَارِيَةَ قَالَ
وَعَظَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ مَوْعِظَةً بَلِيغَةً ذَرَفَتْ مِنْهَا الْعُيُونُ وَوَجِلَتْ مِنْهَا الْقُلُوبُ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَأَنَّ هَذِهِ مَوْعِظَةَ مُوَدِّعٍ فَمَاذَا تَعْهَدْ إِلَيْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «إِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُكُمْ عَلَى الْبَيْضَاءِ لَيْلُهَا كَنَهَارِهَا لَا يَزِيغُ عَنْهَا بَعْدِي مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا هَالِكٌ وَأَنَّهُ مَنْ يَعِشْ مِنْكُمْ يَرَى اخْتِلَافًا كَثِيرًا فَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْبِدَعَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِسُنَّتِي وَسُنَّةِ الْخُلَفَاءِ الرَّاشِدِينَ عَضُّوا عَلَيْهَا بِالنَّوَاجِذِ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ وَإِنْ كَانَ عَبْدًا حَبَشِيًّا»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ admonished us one day with an eloquent admonition that made eyes shed tears and hearts tremble. A man among the Muslims said, “This seems like the admonition of one bidding farewell, so what do you enjoin upon us, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “I have left you upon the clear path; its night is like its day. No one among you will deviate from it after me except one who is destroyed. Whoever among you lives will see much disagreement, so beware of innovations, and adhere to my sunnah and the sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs; bite onto it with the molar teeth, and adhere to hearing and obedience, even if a slave is an Abyssinian.”
