حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ السَّخْتِيَانِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ جَرِيرٌ وَحَدَّثَنِي أَيُّوبُ أَيْضًا عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ الْجَرْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ
تُوُفِّيَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَتَرَكَ سِتَّةَ أَعْبُدٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَهُمْ جَمِيعًا عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ «فَجَزَّأَهُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ ثُمَّ أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَعْتَقَ الثُّلُثَ وَأَرَقَّ الثُّلُثَيْنِ» قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ لَوْ لَمْ يَبْلُغْنِي هَذَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَكَانَ ذَلِكَ رَأْيِي

✧ A man from the Ansar died leaving six slaves with no other property. He freed all of them at his death. The matter was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, who divided them into three portions, then drew lots among them. He freed one third and kept two thirds in bondage. Muhammad b. Sirin said: 'Had this not reached me from the Prophet ﷺ, it would have been my own opinion.'
