حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا حُمَيْدٌ وَحَبِيبٌ وَيُونُسُ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّ زِيَادًا اسْتَعْمَلَ الْحَكَمَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْغِفَارِيَّ عَلَى جَيْشٍ فَلَقِيَهُ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ فِي دَارِ الْإِمَارَةِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ فَقَالَ

هَلْ تَدْرِي فِيمَا جِئْتُكَ؟ أَمَا تَذْكُرُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا بَلَغَهُ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ أَمِيرُهُ فَقُمْ فَقَعْ فِي النَّارِ فَقَامَ الرَّجُلُ لَيَقَعَ فَأُدْرِكَ فَأُمْسِكَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَوْ وَقَعَ فِيهَا لَدَخَلَا النَّارَ لَا طَاعَةَ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ» قَالَ أَيْ قَالَ وَإِنَّمَا أَرَدْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ

✧ Do you know why I have come to you? Do you not remember that when the Messenger of God ﷺ learned what his commander had said to a man — "Stand and throw yourself into the fire" — the man stood up to throw himself in, but he was caught and restrained. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Had he thrown himself into it, both of them would have entered the Fire. There is no obedience in disobedience to God." He said: [another chain], meaning he said: I only wanted [to narrate] this hadith.
