✧ From Ḥamzah: “O assembly of Quraysh, Muhammad has indeed settled in Yathrib and sent out his scouts. He only wants to inflict something upon you, so beware lest you pass by his route or approach him, for he is like a ferocious lion. He is enraged against you because you expelled him as ticks are removed from a camel’s humps. By God, he has sorcerers: I have never seen him or any of his companions without seeing devils with them. You have known the enmity of the two sons of Qaylah, so he is an enemy who has sought help from an enemy.” Muṭʿim b. ʿAdī said to him: “O Abū al-Ḥakam, by God, I have never seen anyone more truthful in speech or more faithful to his promise than your brother whom you drove out. Since you have done what you did, be the most restrained of people concerning him.” Abū Sufyān b. al-Ḥārith said: “Be firmer than you have ever been, for if the two sons of Qaylah gain victory over you, they will not respect any bond or covenant with you. If you feed me, you will make them swallow the news of Kinānah, or they will expel Muhammad ﷺ from among them, and he will be alone and banished. As for the two sons of Qaylah, by God, they and the people of your lowland are equal in humiliation. I will suffice you against their might.” And he said.
