حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ قَوْمِي يَشْتُمُنِي فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ مِنْ بَأْسٍ أَنْ أَنْتَصِرَ مِنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ «الْمُسْتَبَّانِ شَيْطَانَانِ مُتَهاتِرَانِ وَمُتَكاذِبَانِ»

✧ I said, "O Messenger of Allah, a man from my people insults me; is there any harm in my defending myself against him?" He said, "The two who insult each other are two devils who trade insults and lies."
