حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْغَافِقِيُّ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ قَدْ سَمَّاهُ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ} قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اجْعَلُوهَا فِي رُكُوعِكُمْ» وَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اجْعَلُوهَا فِي سُجُودِكُمْ» وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا رَكَعَ قَالَ «سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَإِذَا سَجَدَ قَالَ «سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

✧ When this verse was revealed: {So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great} (Quran 56:96), the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Place it in your bowing.” And when “Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High” (Quran 87:1) was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Place it in your prostration.” And when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bowed, he said: “Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great” three times, and when he prostrated, he said: “Glory be to my Lord, the Most High” three times.
