حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ أَنْسَابَكُمْ هَذِهِ لَيْسَتْ بِسِبَابٍ عَلَى أَحَدٍ وَإِنَّمَا أَنْتُمْ بَنُو آدَمَ طَفُّ الصَّاعِ إِنْ تَمْلَئُوهُ لَيْسَ لِأَحَدٍ عَلَى أَحَدٍ فَضْلٌ إلَّا بِدِينٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ صَالِحٍْ حَسْبُ امْرِئٍ أنْ يَكُونَ فَاحِشًا بَذِيئًا بَخِيلًا حَلَّافًا»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “These lineages of yours are not a cause for reviling anyone. You are all children of Adam, like the fill of a saʿ; if you fill it, no one has superiority over another except through religion or righteous deeds. It is enough for a man to be obscene, vulgar, miserly, and given to oaths.”
