حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ رَاكِبٌ عَلَى بَغْلَتِهِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فَوَضَعْتُ يَدِي عَلَى قَدَمِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقْرِئْنِي قَالَ «إِنَّكَ لَنْ تَقْرَأَ بِشَيْءٍ أَبْلَغَ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was riding his white mule. I placed my hand on his foot and said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me [something to recite]." He said, "You will never recite anything more effective before Allah than 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak.'"
