حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ أَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْجَهْمِ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا بَعَثَهُ سَاعِيًا قَالَ «انْظُرْ أَبَا مَسْعُودٍ لَا أُلْفِيَنَّكَ تَجِيءُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى ظَهْرَكَ بَعِيرٌ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ مِنْ إِبِلِ الصَّدَقَةِ قَدْ غَلَلْتَهُ» قَالَ مَا أَنَا بِسَائِرٍ فِي وَجْهِي هَذَا قَالَ «إِذًا لَا أُكْرِهُكَ»

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him as a tax collector, he said, “Look, Abu Mas‘ud, let me not find you coming on the Day of Resurrection with a camel on your back that has a bray, from the camels of zakat, which you have embezzled.” He said, “I am not going in this direction of mine.” The Prophet said, “Then I will not compel you.”
