حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَيْسًا يَقُولُ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ يَوْمَ تُوُفِّيَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّاسُ انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَافْزَعُوا إِلَى ذِكْرِ اللهِ وَإِلَى الصَّلَاةِ»

✧ I heard Abu Mas‘ud say: The sun eclipsed on the day Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of God ﷺ, died. The people said, “It eclipsed because of the death of Ibrahim.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of God. They do not eclipse for the death or life of anyone. So when you see that, hasten to the remembrance of God and to prayer.”
