حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عُوَيْمِ بْنِ سَاعِدَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَتَاهُمْ فِي مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءَ فَقَالَ «إنَّ اللهَ ﷻ قَدْ أَحْسَنَ إِلَيْكُم الثَّنَاءَ فِي الطُّهُورِ فِي قِصَّةِ مَسْجِدِكُمْ فَمَا هُو الطُّهُورُ الَّذِي تَطَّهَّرُونَ بِهِ؟» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا نَعْلَمُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَنَّه كَان لَنَا جِيرَانٌ مِن الْيَهُودِ فَكَانُوا يَغْسِلُونَ أَدْبَارَهُمْ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ فَغَسَلْنَا كَمَا غَسَلُوا

✧ The Prophet ﷺ came to them in the mosque of Quba and said, "Allah ﷻ has praised you highly for purification in the matter of your mosque. What is this purification with which you purify yourselves?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we do not know anything except that we had Jewish neighbors who used to wash their behinds after defecation, so we washed as they washed."
