حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ أَنَا آدَمُ ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي السَّفَرِ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْمِعْرَاضِ؟ فَقَالَ «إِذَا أَصَبْتَ بِحَدِّهِ فَكُلْ وَإِذَا أَصَبْتَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَقَتَلَ فَإِنَّهُ وَقِيذٌ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ»

✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about hunting with the miʿrāḍ. He said: “If you strike with its edge, eat, and if you strike with its side and it kills, it is a waqīdh, so do not eat.”
