✧ I went early in the afternoon to the Prophet ﷺ. Abu al-Hasan came, and the Prophet ﷺ said to him, “Come close to me, O Abu al-Hasan.” He kept drawing him near until he took his ear between his lips. Then the Prophet of God ﷺ leaned to his left until the Messenger of God ﷺ raised his head like one startled, and said, “The wicked one knocked on his hearing at the door.” He said, “Go, O Abu al-Hasan, and lead him as a sheep is led to its milker.” Then there was ʿAli, who had brought al-Hakam, taking hold of both his ear and his cheek, until he made him stand before the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet of God ﷺ cursed him three times. Then the Prophet of God ﷺ said to ʿAli, “Sit aside.” Then some people from the Emigrants and the Helpers came to the Prophet of God ﷺ, and then the Prophet of God ﷺ called for him and said, “Indeed, this one will oppose the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet ﷺ, and from his loins will emerge trials whose smoke reaches the sky.” A man among the Muslims said, “God and His Messenger have spoken the truth. He is too insignificant and contemptible for that to come from him.” He said, “Yes, and some of you will be his partisans on that day.”
