حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَأَبُو مُسْلِمً الْكَشِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْمُؤَدِّبُ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ ثَابِتَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْيَمَامَةِ وَقَدْ تَحَنَّطَ وَنَشَرَ أَكْفَانَهُ فَقَالَ

«اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَبْرَأُ إِلَيْكَ مِمَّا جَاءَ بِهِ هَؤُلَاءِ وَأَعْتَذِرُ مِمَّا صَنَعَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَقُتِلَ وَكَانَتْ لَهُ دِرْعٌ فَسُرِقَتْ فَرَآهُ رَجُلٌ فِيمَا يَرَى النَّائِمُ» فَقَالَ «إِنَّ دِرْعِي فِي قِدْرٍ تَحْتَ الْكَانُونِ فِي مَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَأَوْصَاهُ بِوَصَايَا فَطَلَبُوا الدِّرْعَ فَوَجَدُوهَا وَأَنْفَذُوا الْوَصَايَا»

✧ "O God, I declare myself innocent before You of what these people have brought, and I apologize for what these people have done." Then he was killed. He had a coat of mail that was stolen. A man saw him in a dream, and he said, "My coat of mail is in a pot under the brazier in such-and-such a place," and he charged him with some instructions. They sought the coat of mail and found it, and they carried out the instructions.
