حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ ثنا أَبُو شَيْبَةَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجْمِ مَاعِزِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ أَتَوْهُ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ فَعَلُوا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَقَدْ تَابَ تَوْبَةً لَوْ تَابَهَا صَاحِبُ مَكْسٍ لَقُبِلَتْ مِنْهُ»

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ ordered the stoning of Ma'iz b. Malik, they came to him and informed him that they had done so. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "He has repented with such a repentance that if a tax-collector had repented with it, it would have been accepted from him."
