حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ ثنا أَبُو شَيْبَةَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ وَعَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلِيًّا عَلَى الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَاسْتَعْمَلَ خَالِدًا عَلَى الْأَعْرَابِ قَالَ «وَإِنْ كَانَ قِتَالٌ فَعَلَيٌّ عَلَى جَمَاعَةِ النَّاسِ»

✧ From Ibn 'Abbas: The Messenger of God ﷺ sent Khalid b. al-Walid and 'Ali b. Abi Talib to Yemen. He placed 'Ali in command of the Muhajirun and placed Khalid in command of the Bedouins. He said: "And if there is fighting, 'Ali is in command of all the people."
