حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ الصَّيْدَلَانِيُّ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ يَزِيدَ النَّحْوِيِّ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
جَاءَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ بْنُ حَرْبٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ نَشَدْتُكَ اللهَ وَالرَّحِمَ قَدْ أَكَلْنَا الْعلهزَ يَعْنِي الْوَبَرَ وَالدَّمَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اسْتَكانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ}

✧ Abu Sufyan b. Harb came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Muhammad, I adjure you by God and kinship: we have eaten 'ilhiz'—meaning hair and blood." Then God ﷻ sent down: {And We seized them with punishment, but they did not humble themselves to their Lord, nor did they entreat Him}.
