حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْأَهْوَازِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِهِمُ الْعَصْرَ ثَلَاثًا وَنَسِي وَاحِدَةً فَانْصَرَفَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَى بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ يُسَمَّى ذُو الشِّمَالَيْنِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَقُصَتِ الصَّلَاةُ؟ قَالَ «وَمَا ذَاكَ؟» قَالَ صَلَّيْتَ ثَلَاثًا فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ فَخَرَجَ إِلَى قَوْمٍ كَانُوا مَعَهُ فَقَالَ «أَصَدَقَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ؟» قَالُوا وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «يَزْعُمُ أَنِّي صَلَّيْتُ ثَلَاثًا» قَالُوا صَدَقَ فَظَنَنَّا أَنَّكَ أُمِرْتَ فِي ذَلِكَ بِأَمْرٍ «فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in the 'Asr prayer with three rak'ahs and forgot one. He left and entered upon one of his wives. Then a man from his Companions called Dhu al-Shimalayn entered upon him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened?" He said: "What is that?" He said: "You prayed three." So he took him by the hand and went out to the people who had been with him and said: "Did Dhu al-Yadayn speak the truth?" They said: "What is that, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "He claims that I prayed three." They said: "He has spoken truthfully. We thought that you had been commanded something regarding that." "So he led them in one rak'ah, then prostrated the two prostrations of forgetfulness."
