حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ كِلَاهُمَا عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَمْ يَحُجَّ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ كُنْتَ قَاضِيَهُ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَحُجَّ عَنْهُ»

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man who has not performed Hajj. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "What do you think if your father had a debt, would you pay it off?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then perform Hajj on his behalf."
