حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا خَالِدٌ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
قَدِمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حُجَّاجًا وَأَمَرَهُمْ فَجَعَلُوهَا عَمْرَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ «لَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ لَفَعَلْتُ كَمَا فَعَلُوا وَلَكِنْ دَخَلْتِ الْعُمْرَةُ فِي الْحَجِّ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ» ثُمَّ أَنْشَبَ أَصَابِعَهُ بَعْضَهَا بِبَعْضٍ فَحَلَّ النَّاسُ إِلَّا مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيُ وَقَدِمَ عَلِيٌّ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «بِمَ أَهْلَلْتَ؟» قَالَ أَهْلَلْتُ بِمَا أَهْلَلْتَ بِهِ قَالَ «فَهَلْ مَعَكَ هَدْيٌ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَأَقِمْ كَمَا أَنْتَ وَلَكَ ثُلُثُ هَدْيِي» وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَهْدَى مِائَةَ بَدَنَةٍ
Translation

✧ We came with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as pilgrims, and he commanded them, so they made it an ʿUmrah. Then he said, "If I could go back and change what I have done, I would do as they have done, but the ʿUmrah has entered into the Hajj until the Day of Resurrection." Then he interlaced his fingers together. So the people exited ihrām except those who had the sacrificial animal with them. ʿAlī arrived from Yemen, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "With what did you enter ihrām?" He said, "I entered ihrām with the same as you entered ihrām with." He said, "Do you have a sacrificial animal with you?" He said, "No." He said, "Then remain as you are, and you shall have a third of my sacrificial animal." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had brought one hundred camels as sacrificial animals.
