حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مِقْلَاصٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ سَالِمًا أَبَا النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ زِيَادٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَيَّاشٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ يَوْمَ مَاتَ فَأَحْنَى عَلَيْهِ كَأَنَّهُ يُوصِيهِ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَرَأَوْا فِي عَيْنَيْهِ أَثَرَ الْبُكَاءِ ثُمَّ أَحْنَى عَلَيْهِ الثَّانِيَةَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَرَأَوْهُ يَبْكِي ثُمَّ أَحْنَى عَلَيْهِ الثَّالِثَةَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَلَهُ شَهيقٌ فَعَرَفُوا أَنَّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ فَبَكَى الْقَوْمُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَهْ؛ إِنَّمَا هَذَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاسْتَغْفِرُوا اللهَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَذْهِبْ عَنْكَ أَبَا السَّائِبِ فَلَقَدْ خَرَجْتَ وَلَمْ تَتَلَبَّسْ مِنْهَا بِشَيْءٍ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ entered upon Uthman b. Maz'un on the day he died and leaned over him as if advising him, then raised his head and they saw traces of weeping in his eyes, then leaned over him a second time, then raised his head and they saw him weeping, then leaned over him a third time, then raised his head with a sob. So they knew that he had died, and the people wept. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Stop; this is from Satan, so seek forgiveness from Allah." Then he said: "Go away from you, Abu al-Sa'ib, for you have departed and have not been soiled by anything of it."
