حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَرْسَلَنِي أَمِيرٌ مِنَ الْأُمَرَاءِ إِلِي ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ قَالَ مَنْ أَرْسَلَكَ؟ قُلْتُ فُلَانٌ قَالَ وَمَا مَنَعَهُ
أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي فَيَسْأَلَنِي؟ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُتَوَاضِعًا مُتَضَرِّعًا مُبْتَذِلًا فَلَمْ يَخْطُبْ خُطْبَتَكُمْ هَذِهِ وَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ كَمَا يُصَلِّي فِي الْعِيدِ

✧ That he should come to me and ask me? The Messenger of God ﷺ went out humble, beseeching, and plainly dressed; he did not deliver a sermon like this one of yours, and he prayed two rak'ahs as he prayed on the Eid.
