حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي نُعَيْمٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا هُشَيْمٌ حَدَّثَنِي الْمَدِينِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْحُوَيْرِثِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
إِذَا كَانَتِ الْأَرْضُ مُخْصِبَةً فَتَقَصَّدُوا فِي السَّيْرِ وَأَعْطُوا الرِّكَابَ حَقَّهَا؛ فَإِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى رَفِيقٌ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ مُجْدِبَةً فَانْجُوا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالدُّلْجَةِ؛ فَإِنَّ الْأَرْضَ تُطْوَى بِاللَّيْلِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّعْرِيسَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الطَّرِيقِ؛ فَإِنَّهُ مَأْوَى الْحَيَّاتِ وَمَدْرَجَةُ السِّبَاعِ

✧ If the land is fertile, then aim for exploration and give the travelers their rights; for indeed, Allah is Kind who loves kindness. But if it is arid, then flee and rely on the camel (for transportation); for indeed, the land folds at night and be cautious of the wild animals on the road; for indeed, it is the abode of snakes and the hunting ground of predators.
