حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعَمَّارٍ ابْنَيْ حَفْصٍ عَنْ آبَائِهِمْ عَنْ أَجْدَادِهِمْ عَنْ بِلَالٍ

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُؤَذِّنُ بِالصُّبْحِ فَيَقُولُ حَيَّ عَلَى خَيْرِ الْعَمَلِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ مَكَانَهَا «الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ» وَتَرَكَ حَيَّ عَلَى خَيْرِ الْعَمَلِ

✧ He used to call the adhān for the dawn prayer, saying, "Come to the best of deeds (ḥayya ʿalā khayr al-ʿamal)." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that in its place be said, "Prayer is better than sleep (al-ṣalātu khayrun min al-nawm)," and he left out "Come to the best of deeds."
