حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا اسْتَخَارَ فِي الْأَمْرِ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَصْنَعَهُ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ؛ فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ اللهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ هَذَا خَيْرًا لِي فِي دِينِي وَخَيْرًا لِي فِي مَعِيشَتِي وَخَيْرًا لِي فِيمَا أَبْتَغِي بِهِ الْخَيْرَ فَخِرْ لِي فِي عَافِيَةٍ وَيَسِّرْهُ ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ خَيْرًا لِي فَاقْدِرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ»

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ that when he sought guidance in a matter he wanted to undertake, he would say: “O Allah, I seek Your guidance through Your knowledge, and I seek Your ability through Your power, and I ask You of Your bounty; for You have power and I have none, and You know and I know not, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if this affair is good for me in my religion, and good for me in my livelihood, and good for me in what I seek good through, then decree it for me in well-being and make it easy, then bless me in it. And if other than that is better for me, then decree for me what is good wherever it may be.”
