حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ الطَّرَائِفِيُّ الرَّقِّيُّ بِالرَّقَّةِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْكَلْبِيُّ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ قَالَ: كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ النَّصِيبِيُّ يَذْكُرُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الْعَزِيزِ بْنَ صُهَيْبٍ حَدَّثَهُ خَبَّابٌ مَوْلَى الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ:

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا إِذَا خَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِكِ أَخَذْنَا فِي أَحَادِيثِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ! فَقَالَ: إِذَا جَلَسْتُمْ تِلْكَ الْمَجَالِسَ الَّتِي تَخَافُونَ فِيهَا عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ فَقُولُوا عِنْدَ مَقَامِكُمْ: سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، نَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، نَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَنَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ ! وَيُكَفَّرُ عَنْكُمْ مَا أَصَبْتُمْ فِيهَا

✧ O Messenger of Allah, when we leave your presence, we engage in the talk of the Jahiliyyah! He said: 'When you sit in those gatherings in which you fear for yourselves, say upon your sitting: "Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise. We bear witness that there is no god but You. We seek Your forgiveness and turn to You!" Then what you have incurred therein will be expiated for you.'
