حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ شَاذَانَ الْفَارِسِيُّ أَبُوِ عَلِيٍّ [ أَبُو يَعْلَى ] شِيرَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ، حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرُ بْنُ كِدَامٍ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْعَامِرِيِّ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَلْ قَارَفْتَ شَيْئًا مِمَّا قَارَفَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، وَقَدْ كُنْتُ عَلَى مَوْعِدَيْنِ؛ أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَغَلَبَتْنِي عَيْنِي، وَأَمَّا الْآخَرُ فَشَغَلَتْنِي عَنْهُ سَامِرُ الْقَوْمِ

✧ I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, did you ever do anything of what the people of the Jahiliyyah did?' He said, 'No, but I was appointed to two engagements; as for one of them, sleep overcame me, and as for the other, the people's night talk kept me from it.'
