  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationʿUbaydullāh narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Ibn Wahb narrated it from Jarīr b. Ḥāzim, from ʿUbaydullāh, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, and he was not followed in this. Others said: from ʿUbaydullāh, from Khubayb, from Ḥafṣ b. ʿĀṣim, from ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, from the Prophet ﷺ. But its being traced back to the Prophet (raf') is not preserved (maḥfūẓ); what is preserved is that it is from ʿUmar.

machine translationIbn Wahb was alone in narrating this hadith from Jarīr b. Ḥāzim. Ibn ʿAdī said: No one says in this hadith 'from ʿUbaydullāh, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar' except Jarīr, and from him ʿAbdullāh, and this is a mistake. I do not know whether the mistake is from Jarīr or from Ibn Wahb. The students of ʿUbaydullāh narrated it from ʿUbaydullāh, from Ḥabīb b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from Ḥafṣ b. ʿĀṣim, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ.
