حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْجَهْمِ السِّمَّرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَاتِمٍ سَهْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ السِّجِسْتَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي الْحَوَاجِبِ الْكُوفِيُّ قَالَ:

كُنْتُ آخِذًا بِيَدِ الْأَعْمَشِ فَقَالَ: قَرَأْتُ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ وَثَّابٍ ثَلَاثِينَ مَرَّةً كُلُّ ذَلِكَ أَقْرَأُ: وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ، وَكَذَلِكَ قَرَأَ يَحْيَى عَلَى عَلْقَمَةَ، وَعَلْقَمَةُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، وَابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

✧ I was holding the hand of al-A'mash, and he said: I recited the Quran to Yahya b. Waththab thirty times, each time I recited: 'And shun the filth' [al-Muddaththir 74:5], and likewise Yahya recited it to 'Alqama, and 'Alqama to 'Abd Allah b. Mas'ud, and Ibn Mas'ud to the Prophet ﷺ.
