حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ السُّكَيْنِ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرَّهَاوِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ الرَّهَاوِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْلَةَ
سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ؓ: كَيْفَ أَتَوَضَّأُ ؟ قَالَ: سَأَلْتَنِي كَيْفَ أَتَوَضَّأُ وَلَا تَسْأَلُنِي: كَيْفَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَوَضَّأُ ؟ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَوَضَّأُ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا، وَقَالَ: بِهَذَا أَمَرَنِي رَبِّي - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

✧ I asked Anas b. Mālik ؓ: “How do I perform ablution?” He said: “You ask me how to perform ablution, but you do not ask me how I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ perform ablution. I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ perform ablution three times, three times, and he said: ‘Thus has my Lord — Mighty and Majestic — commanded me.’”
