حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الرَّجَّانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ الْمُقَوِّمُ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ؓ قَالَ:

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ طَعَامٌ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ: ادْنُوا، فَكُلُوا مِنْ هَذَا الطَّعَامِ، فَقُلْنَا: إِنَّا صِيَامٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: هَلْ صُمْتُمْ أَمْسِ ؟ قُلْنَا: لَا، قَالَ: فَهَلْ تُرِيدُونَ أَنْ تَصُومُوا غَدًا ؟، فَقُلْنَا: لَا، قَالَ: فَادْنُوا، فَكُلُوا مِنْ هَذَا الطَّعَامِ؛ فَإِنَّ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ لَا يُصَامُ وَحْدَهُ

✧ We entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on Friday, and before him was food from which he was eating. He said: Come closer and eat from this food. We said: We are fasting, O Messenger of Allah. He said: Did you fast yesterday? We said: No. He said: Do you intend to fast tomorrow? We said: No. He said: Come closer and eat from this food, for Friday is not to be fasted alone.
