حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْحَذَّاءُ الرَّقِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَعْوَرُ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
مَنْ أَصَابَ ذَنْبًا فِي الدُّنْيَا فَعُوقِبَ بِهِ، فَاللهُ - جَلَّ ذِكْرُهُ - أَعْدَلُ مِنْ أَنْ يُثَنِّيَ عُقُوبَتَهُ عَلَى عَبْدِهِ فِي الْآخِرَةِ، وَمَنْ أَصَابَ ذَنْبًا فِي الدُّنْيَا فَسَتَرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَفَا عَنْهُ، فَاللهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - أَجْوَدُ مِنْ أَنْ يَعُودَ فِي شَيْءٍ قَدْ عَفَا عَنْهُ وَسَتَرَهُ

✧ Whoever commits a sin in this world and is punished for it, Allah, mighty is His remembrance, is more just than to repeat his punishment upon His servant in the Hereafter. And whoever commits a sin in this world and Allah conceals it for him and pardons him, Allah, mighty and majestic is He, is more generous than to return to something He has already pardoned and concealed.
