حَدَّثَنَا بَانُوبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ بَانُوبَةَ الْأَيْلِيُّ [ الْأُبُلِّيُّ ]، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الضَّالُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِحْدَى صَلَاتَيِ الْعَشِيِّ: الظُّهْرَ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ فَسَلَّمَ فِي رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ: أَقَصُرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ ؟ فَقَالَ: بَلْ نَسِيتُ، فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in one of the two evening prayers—Zuhr or 'Asr—and he gave the salam after two rak'ahs. A man called Dhu al-Yadayn said to him: Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget? He said: Rather I forgot. So he stood and prayed the two rak'ahs, then prostrated two prostrations while sitting, then gave the salam.
