حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَافِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ طُعْمَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْجَعْفَرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجَحَّافِ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْفٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ:

أَتَيْتُ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ أُعَزِّيهَا عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، فَقَالَتْ: دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَلَسَ عَلَى مَنَامَةٍ لَنَا، فَجَاءَتْهُ فَاطِمَةُ - رِضْوَانُ اللهِ وَرَحْمَتُهُ عَلَيْهَا - بِشَيْءٍ وَضَعَتْهُ، فَقَالَ: ادْعِي لِي حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا وَابْنَ عَمِّكِ، فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعُوا عِنْدَهُ قَالَ لَهُمْ: " هَؤُلَاءِ حَامِيَتِي وَأَهْلُ بَيْتِي، فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا

✧ I came to Umm Salamah to offer condolences for al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī. She said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon me and sat on a bed of ours. Fāṭimah— ؓ and have mercy on her—came to him with something and placed it down. He said: 'Call for me Ḥasan, Ḥusayn, and your cousin.' When they gathered with him, he said: 'These are my family and my household. So remove impurity from them and purify them thoroughly.'
